Frequently Asked Questions

Short answers to the questions founders ask us most.
The basics
Is Idea for Startups free?
Yes — all of it. One idea a day is open to everyone with no email at all, and entering your email unlocks every other idea's full report — no membership, no card, nothing to pay. Your email also subscribes you to the monthly FounderRoute recap of the top ideas.
Where do the ideas come from?
Every idea starts from measured Google search data — real monthly search volumes, keyword difficulty, and trend curves — plus competitor and market-gap research. Each report includes the demand data, an opportunity and feasibility score, and a step-by-step execution plan.
Can I actually build an idea you published?
Yes — that's the point. Published ideas aren't reserved, licensed, or exclusive. You don't owe us permission, fees, attribution, or equity. The write-up and research are our copyright; the business is yours to build.
What do the Opportunity and Feasibility scores mean?
Opportunity measures the size and openness of the market signal; Feasibility measures how realistic the idea is for a small team to execute. We explain the full rubric in our guide, How We Score Ideas.
Ideas & voting
How often do new ideas publish?
We research and publish new ideas continuously — several a day while we build out the library. The homepage always shows the current Idea of the Day, free to read with no email, and the archive holds every idea we've ever published.
How does idea voting work?
Upvote any idea — or swipe through the deck in Idea Swipe — and your vote counts once per email per idea. The community's top-voted ideas rank on the leaderboard at /ideas sorted by top.
Why is an idea's search data different when I check it myself?
Search volumes and difficulty are snapshots from our research date, and they move over time. Treat our numbers as the starting signal and re-validate current demand before you commit money.
Privacy & contact
Do you sell my email?
No. We use your email only to unlock the archive, count your idea votes, and send the newsletter you subscribed to. See our Privacy Policy.
What is Credit for Startups?
Our sister site — a free directory of startup credits, perks, programs, accelerators, and grants (AWS, Stripe, OpenAI, Anthropic, and more). When an idea here fits, the tooling to start it is often free there.
